July in Review
Life updates, favorite purchases, what I’m watching and reading, and more!
I have no idea what to say in the intro paragraph this month so let’s just get into it!
Life updates
Oh, my, my. June was a very busy month and July was for (mostly) relaxation and catching up. Your Day with EK had 6(!) weddings in June (back-to-back-to-back), three of which I planned and three were coordinated by my associate coordinators. It was hectic and fun and such a big learning experience. (For example: I will no longer be booking three weekends in a row.) We had just one wedding in July and phew, the break was nice! I’ve got three more between now and mid-September and then I am done for the year! My wedding off-season will be spent implementing all of the knowledge I’ve gained in the form of massive, massive changes.
On to the personal life updates!
In June, we…
Celebrated Matt’s first fathers day with a walk to the zoo and a pit stop at Diversey Driving Range for a beer - I gifted him golf lessons that he has yet to use!!
Amelia turned 6 months old! And we started introducing her to solid food! She loves steak (juice), greek yogurt with peanut butter, and avocado toast! We also introduced a straw-cup for water but that’s a work in progress :)
Went to a few birthday parties! First, our niece turned three! And then our nephew had his second birthday party! And then!! Our other niece was born at the end of the month. Busy, busy.
So, we took July a bit slower…
Matt and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary!
I got a haircut!
I bought watercolor paints(???) and am going to explore my ~creative side~. I just feel so bored with all of the BEIGE in my life, lately.
June & July Favorites
Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Butter: God, this smells like vacation in a tub and is so beyond moisturizing!!
BlendTec blender: We went back and forth between this and a Vitamix and opted for the BlendTec. My parents have had a BlendTec for a long, long time and I like it! It’s quiet and about half of the price of the Vitamix we were looking at. It’s great for smoothies and purees!
Portable phone charger: This charger contains several types of chargers in one, charges my things quickly, and plugs into a wallet outlet to charge without an added brick. I keep one in my “wedding day kit” and another around for travel or long days out of the house.
Amelia loves these stacking rings & these colorful stacking cups. One of our newest activities is to put them in a baking dish half-full of water and let her go to town on some sensory play!
Swiftly Tech Raceback Tank: The Swiftly Tech is my new holy grail workout top!! I got the tank to mitigate some of the farmers' tan I got from wearing my short-sleeves constantly. Buy a size (or two) up for a looser fit! It’s great as a workout top in the gym, on runs, playing tennis or golf, or just running errands and lounging about!
Watching & Reading
Sirens (Netflix): I enjoyed the show but if you asked me about the plot, I couldn’t really tell you much. I liked it for the imagery and cast.
Happy Gilmore 2 (Netflix)
One Golden Summer: I really, really liked this book and like Carley Fortune in general! I’m in line via Libby for This Summer Will Be Different. CF does such a beautiful job of capturing those nostalgic-for-summer feelings. I think I read that Every Summer After is being adapted for tv? Count me in!
Too Good to Be True by Carola Lovering: This came recommended by our nanny, Elise! I overall liked the book but found the last ~third less gripping than the first two-thirds. Once you figure out what’s going on… the rest of the dominos fall into place.
On my radar
August will be another busy-ish month as I’ve got two weddings (and one the first weekend of September). I don’t want to seem like I’m wishing time away but I’m so ready for fall. I need the cooler temperatures and the slower pace that wedding off-season brings.
We’re going to the Cubs-v-Orioles game at Wrigley this Friday which should be fun! And I think we’ll bring Amelia to her first ever farmers market (how have we gone all summer without a trip?!)!!
Bye!
